The Tennessee Counselor Collaborative (TCC) is a year-long cohort of counselors from across Tennessee that works towards having school counselors to experience STEM with the end goal of counselors encouraging more underrepresented groups to enroll in STEM courses in high school and postsecondary by supporting career exploration and advising.
This program is designed to:
- Deepen counselor knowledge in STEM careers, STEM skills, and postsecondary STEM opportunities.
- Provide counselors with the knowledge and tools needed to promote STEM career exploration and STEM opportunities in their school.
- Identify assets within your school and community that can support STEM career exploration and job opportunities.
- Expand your sphere of influence with students by encouraging enrollment to STEM courses.
- Identify a plan for supporting and advising students as they apply to postsecondary schools or certification programs.
- Increase student and parent engagement in STEM through educational awareness, mentoring, advising, internships, and career fairs.
The application window is open (November 18, 2022) and will close January 15, 2023.
Meetings
- Attend a Virtual Roundtable
- Attend in-person kick-off meeting in Smyrna, February 21, 2023.
- Attend virtual check ins March 20 and April 17, 2023.
- Attend virtual regional meeting May 15, 2023.
Stipend
- Those selected for the cohort will receive a $750 travel stipend for the February 21, 2023 meeting.
- Cohort members will receive a $250 stipend when they submit their proposals.
- Three regional consultants will be developed and receive a stipend of $2000. For information about the consultant role or an application, email Tamra Billings. [billings@battelle.org]
Applicant Requirements
The applicant must be a counselor in a Tennessee school.
Each applicant should submit their own application.
