Tennessee Rural STEM Collaborative – Applications due August 14

20170602_100513The Tennessee Rural STEM Collaborative provides a unique opportunity for rural educators to identify issues pertinent to their educational community and collaborate with a local cohort to develop targeted solutions. To improve statewide access, there will be three cohorts, one in West Tennessee, one in Middle Tennessee and one in East Tennessee. There will be one whole group kick-off event in Nashville followed by two local convenings and two virtual check-in meetings. Each cohort will break into smaller work-alike groups to develop a meaningful solution to an issue in rural STEM education. Participants will engage in targeted professional development and have the opportunity to meet experts in the field. Participants of the Tennessee Rural STEM Collaborative will:

  • Deepen their knowledge of STEM educational issues and exercise their voice and perspective as an educator to bring positive change to their communities
  • Identify assets within their communities that can support high-quality STEM education and work-based learning
  • Expand their spheres of influence within their school, district, and region
  • Develop targeted solutions that build upon assets and address current challenges within their communities
