Manufacturing & Engineering Externship Program (MEEP)

Building educator capacity to prepare the workforce of tomorrow

Sponsored by a grant from the Office of Naval Research, the MEEP program is designed to equip Tennessee educators to develop future ready talent. MEEP seeks to address the growing STEM skills gap in the manufacturing and engineering sectors by engaging K-12 Tennessee educators in paid summer externships with local companies in STEM industries. Each externship experience will last 3-5 days in the month of June. The specific schedule for the externship experience is flexible based on educator and provider preference.

Each educator will be trained by TSIN staff in project based learning (PBL) best practices. At the conclusion of the externship experience, the educator will develop a PBL curricular unit that exposes their students to industry skills and career opportunities. TSIN will pay the educators a  stipend for their participation and the development of curricular units.
